Braking Resistors: Modular

JEVI’s modular braking resistor is a compact product which requires less space than a traditional resistor. The reduction equates to 30–50%, depending on the configuration. Another benefit is the roughly 20% weight reduction compared to a traditional resistor.

The modular braking resistor is designed for use in the offshore industry, e.g. drilling ships, FPSOs, jack-ups and cable-laying ships. The resistor can be used to dump excess electricity from propellers, cranes, winches, top drives, etc.

The modular resistor is manufactured pursuant to customer’s specific wishes and needs. It is possible to have it delivered in racks of up to 8 resistors on an ordinary manifold and instrument junction box.

These may be placed in Safe and Ex areas (ATEX/IECEx), depending on the construction.
